Description
A small personal device that creates a small area of Wi-Fi coverage allowing nearby Wi-Fi devices to connect to the Internet. Instructions: Rules: Wi-Fi hotspots are available for checkout in an attempt to decrease the digital divide and ensure that those who can’t afford internet service in their home have a free alternative. The hotspots allow users to connect up to 10 devices to the Internet, anywhere that Verizon has cellular service. Hotspots may be checked out like most items by calling, accessing the catalog online, or visiting the library. The hotspots can only be checked out and returned at Trinidad Carnegie Public Library, and may not be returned in the book drop. Loan Period / Availability: Hotspots may be checked out for 1 week and are available on a first-come, first-served basis to patrons 18 years and older with library accounts in good standing. You may place holds on hotspots, but the library cannot guarantee their availability for a specific date or time. Only one hotspot is allowed per household. Hotspots are able to be renewed once as long as there are no holds from other library users. Fines / Liability: Overdue hotspots will have internet access disabled after 3 days overdue, and there is a $1.00 per day overdue charge will be assessed after a three day grace period. Long overdue hotspots (30 days or more) will be marked as lost, and the patron will be charged the replacement cost of 200.00 dollars, plus the service charge for each month overdue, an additional 40.00 dollars. A lost, damaged, or stolen hotspot will be a replacement cost of 200.00 dollars. The Carnegie Public Library uses a collection agency to recover lost items, or the replacement cost for these items. Unlawful use of the Internet or use that violates the Carnegie Public Library’s Internet use policy is prohibited and will result in the loss of hotspot privileges. How do I return it? Hotspots must be returned to a staff member at the Carnegie Public Library. You must return the hotspot with all parts (the hotspot device, charger and plug-in, carrying box, the “get to know your device” pamphlet, and battery). Please do not return in the book drop. Hotspots should be kept in a temperature controlled environment. There is a 25.00 dollar replacement charge for lost chargers, or other missing hotspot parts.
